Kaivalyadhama - YogYaan - to reach the unreached. Celebrations of International Day of Yoga 2016

Celebrations of the International Day of Yoga on the 21st of June 2016

Yoga is a cultural heritage of India. It has been practiced for several thousand years. Yoga deals with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The United Nations has declared June 21st as the International Yoga Day. The celebration for this day would essentially mean enabling individual to be aware of one’s own self at the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institution, the oldest institute started in 1917 and established in Lonavla in 1924, is a pioneer institute in research, training and therapy in Yoga. It is participating in the celebration of the International Day of Yoga. Celebration means respecting the essence, promoting the principle. Through this day we ignite the flame of Yoga in the hearts of many, those who have not yet experienced the bliss of practice.

We plan to celebrate this through organizing a program on the 21st of June 2016. This program will have two components:

Practice of Asana, Pranayama and Dharana: Selected asanas for general health, well-being and self awareness together with simple pranayama and concentration of the mind will be practiced. This module has been developed by the Ministry of AYUSH, in consultation with all the Yoga institutes in the country. We shall follow the same.

Understanding the philosophy: the essence of Yoga is in its  philosophy. One of the important components is Ashtang Yoga. During these celebrations we will make an effort to discuss this philosophy in its essence, its understanding and experience. This discussion will be with experts from the field, who can make it relevant for the participant in today’s perspective.
