What?

Psychological Disorder and its Concept as per Ayurveda:

The term psychological disorder is sometimes used to refer to what is more frequently known as mental disorders or psychiatric disorders. Mental disorders are patterns of behavioral or psychological symptoms that impact multiple areas of life. These disorders create distress for the person experiencing these symptoms.

There are five major mental illnesses — autism, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and schizophrenia — appear to share some common genetic risk factors, according to an examination of genetic data.

Ayurveda, ayu (age) + veda (science) is the science of life. A science that encompasses the mind, body and soul with health. This ancient medicine has become the go-to treatment because the absence of side effects. While it is common knowledge that Ayurveda is used to treat physical ailments, it is also being used as an alternative and complementary therapy in the treatment of mental health issues.

Ayurvedic drugs provide for a holistic change in the patient. Ayurveda recommends traditional dietary and lifestyle habits along with yogic exercises and herbal treatment. It has proved to be an alternative form of treatment, which not only includes treating the disorder – physical and psychological – but also bringing in a change in the lifestyle of the person to prevent future illnesses.

Ayurveda aims at preservation and promotion of health, and prevention and cure of diseases through the concepts of positive physical and mental health. Management of mental disorders or psychological medicine was an area of specialization even during caraka’s time (500 B.C.)

Why?

Concept of Mental Health in Ayurveda:

Mental strength is graded into superior, medium and inferior. Those with superior mental strength can withstand mental trauma well. Those with inferior mental strength are incapable to suffer even trivial trauma and pain. Those with medium strength can afford to take hardships if consoled to do so.   • Know and learn the Ayurvedic Principal for Psychology diseases.
  • Learn how mental health is affecting the body. What are the symptoms?
  • Manas rog chikitsa as per Ayurveda.
  • Learn about types, sign and symptom of Psychology diseases.
  • Learn about its home remedy as per the principle of Ayurveda.
  • The Psychology diseases which we will cover in this workshops are as follows;
    Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, Dementia, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Schizophrenia and Obsessive compulsive disorder.

About the Facilitator

Shri. Neeraj Singh is a senior yoga teacher at Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute, Lonavla. He has been teaching Yoga and offering expert yogic counseling at Kaivalyadhama for many years; with his guidance, many people have benefited. He was the personal assistant and demonstrator of Dr. O. P. Tiwari on various workshops. Shri. Neeraj has been holding a Sunday Asana class on online workshop medium since 2020 with Kaivalyadhama, along with the collaboration of Yoga & Wellness Chandra, Japan (with a consecutive interpretation into Japanese by Dr. Motoko Saito who is a founder of Yoga & Wellness Chandra, Japan) and it has been a huge success. Shri. Neeraj has a deep knowledge of traditional Yoga.

Dr. Sajith Pillai is an experienced Ayurvedic Physician. He is an Ayurvedic consultant in Kaivalyadhama since 2018. Dr. Sajith is specialized in Kerela Ayurveda Panchakarma treatment and classical Ayurvedic medicine. He is an enthusiastic person, who is spreading awareness of his Ayurveda knowledge from his YouTube channel.
