What?

Patanjali’s Yogasutras classify Yoga into eight limbs called Yamas and Niyamas, that progress from outer physicality to inner dimensions of human consciousness. Known to be a spiritual quest, traditional Yoga considers both asana (posture) and pranayama (controlled breathing) as important aspects for Yoga meditation. Patanjali cites ‘correct’ asana as a prerequisite for practicing Yoga and obtaining its benefits.

Proper and regular practice of Yoga asanas stimulates body-mind connections. Through self-awareness, asanas relax and rejuvenate, making Yoga effortless and easy for the body. Appropriate Yoga meditation also facilitates mindfulness and enhances concentration.

Why?

Popular across the globe, asanas are routinely practiced by health workers, exercise trainers, school students, and even professional sportspersons for physical and mental well-being. The right asana involves gaining stability by holding the chest, neck, and head upright. Practicing pranayama and asanas increases lung capacity, improves immunity, and bolsters internal organs.

A correct asana position never causes any pain or discomfort. But an incorrect posture can cause severe injuries. It is essential to know and use appropriate asana techniques for long-term advantages. Asanas make the body supple and light, while soothing and calming the mind.

Participants Experience:

Thank you! The workshop has taught to understand the very early signs of psychosomatic disorders and what to prescribe and practice in these cases. It has made clear the power of very simple techniques - if these are understood and applied properly. It was densely packed with knowledge and very practical.

Ama Ramona Loeschcke (July 2020) , Vienna, Austria

It was amazing to participate at this workshop. I hope you will continue to do online workshops also when the world gets back to normal and people start travel again. Dr. Bhalekar explained everything very well, also his use of Sanskrit words, and that was good.

Kathrine Brekke (July 2020), Skjetten, Norway

It was a very good informative session. simple yet very practical approaches.

Aarthi Padmanabhan (July 2020)

The workshop was brilliant. Really looking forward for more.

Akhil Gopi (July 2020) London

Excellent sessions by Dr. Sharad C. Bhalekar. Looking for more deeper sessions focusing on the philosophy of yoga and spirituality. Longer courses should be offered in future.
