About the Workshop:

In consonant with the etymological connotation of Yoga in terms of “samadhi”, “union” and/or “control” (samyam) the practices of any form of Yoga – to mention a few – Ashtanga Yoga and Kriya Yoga of Maharishi Patanjali, Hathayoga of Svatmarama and of Gheranda Samhita and even jnana yoga, karma yoga and bhakti yoga etc. – necessarily involve, on the part of sadhaka, the internalization of host of values (Mulya Yoga) that are in concurrence with those forms of Yoga.

      Importance of Value Education

  • Yoga has a message for all the aspects of human life – physical physiological, psychological, cognitive – educational moral and spiritual and so on.
  • The precepts and practices of Yoga can be applied for the internalization and realization of the values related with these aspects thereby enriching and deepening the human experiences variously termed as “making a good person”, “personality development” or “human resource development” and so on.
  • In fact, the practice of Yoga (Yoga sadhana) without realization of values will be unconceivable and incomplete.

       Benefit of this Workshop

  • Through some of the precepts and practices of Yoga, such as Yamas and Niyamas, Asanas, Kriya Yoga, Sadhaka – Badhaka factors of Hathayoga etc. (which are full of values).
  • This workshop purports to highlight the contribution of yoga towards the development of values constitutive of good life as conceived by the society thereby expanding the horizons of the applicability of Yoga in terms of the realization of value educational aims and objectives overcoming the value crisis through which our society is passing through.
