About the Facilitator:

This workshop will be led by senior faculty with 40+ years of teaching experience. Yogacharya Sandhya Dixit is one of the senior-most teachers in Kaivalyadhama, Lonavla. She has experience of 39 years in the field of yoga. She has actively conducted workshops and training camps at national and international levels. Her 10 days online workshops series in March 2020 ‘Yoga for senior citizens’ collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush was applauded and acknowledged by thousands of people. Her Pranayama online workshops have been successful since June 2020. Workshop participants love her style of teaching. She recently is awarded Swami Kuvalayananda Yoga Puraskar 2020 for her dedicated, committed and extraordinary work in the field of Yoga.

We welcome you to this special workshop designed for seniors to learn and practice yoga. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner- you can learn the traditional yoga techniques.

 

Regular practice of yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation can lead to a happier and more fulfilling life. Yoga will not just tone your body, but will also uplift your mind. Your attitude will improve. You will think and feel young. And remember, you are as young as you feel!

 

Yoga is for all. It is a way of life- irrespective of age, gender, religion and condition. One can practice yoga and derive benefits from it. It is primarily a preventive science but also helps in alleviating pains from many conditions, especially those which arise when the body becomes of senior age. For senior citizens who are looking for a safe, effective way to enhance their physical health and overall wellness, the stretching, breathing, and meditation practices of yoga can be a great solution. In fact, as you will see, doing yoga regularly can result in lots of benefits for older adults, from greater flexibility and improved balance to lower stress and better sleep.

 

The practices which are simple to perform are sometimes the most effective in nature. As we age, the body requires microcirculation of energy to keep the joints and muscles healthy. The spine too is to be kept supple in its natural curvature. And yoga can be an excellent means for the same. It can rejuvenate the mind and soul, giving relief and soothing the overall body; because asanas can easily be modified or adapted to suit an individual's needs, yoga is safe for seniors of all fitness or ability levels. In fact, it can be an excellent way to keep your body strong and healthy without the joint stress that comes from another day-to-day exhausting activity. And it's never too late to begin!

Instruction

  • Please be seated in a well-ventilated place during the workshop, especially for comfort during the practice sessions.
  • Keep yourself hydrated throughout.
  • In case you have consumed a heavy meal, kindly practice after a gap of at least 1 hour.
  • After snacking moderate foods (solids/liquids), practice after a gap of at least 30 minutes.
  • A meal can be taken after 30 minutes of practice.

Recordings

  • Recordings will be available for 7 days post-workshop.
  • Please be mindful that recording/s are being shared in good faith to support you in your practices or study.
  • Kindly honour its intellectual property rights by not downloading it on your device or forwarding it to any other person.

Certificate of Participation

  • A certification of participation will be provided on request via sending email to onlineworkshops@kdham.com after completion of the series.
  • Please register for the workshop with the exact name you would like to receive on your certificate.
