Peace & Harmony through
Kriya Yoga & Dhyana

by Dr. R. S. Bhogal
19th to 25th January 2025
(Check-in: 19th January
Check-out: 26th January)

The English word “harmony” comes from the Greek harmonica, meaning agreement, concord. Harmony signifying human unity, concord and agreement urges man for stepping forward to do concrete for the welfare of one and all. Hence, it is quite similar to peace.

When every single part of our body works in cooperation with the other members of the body, everything moves smoothly. We enjoy life and all those around us are bound to benefit. However, when segments of our body become sick, cease to work constructively together, then we experience the creation of suffering.

In Yoga, the Citta, comprising Manas, Buddhi and Ahamkar (mind-intellect-ego complex) when is calmed down results into its ideal interaction with Prana making the Prana a Sadrichi Prana (Pure Prana). Thus peace and harmony are evidenced in human personality.

A person is considered advanced spiritually, when he regards honest well-wishers, affectionate benefactors, the neutral, the mediators, the envious, friends and enemies, the pious and the sinners all, with an equal mind (Bhagvad Gita: 6/9).

In Brahma-bindu Upanishad the mind has been described as the cause of human bondage and sufferings as also of liberation and eternal happiness.

Mana eva manushyanam karanam bandhamokshayoh I
Bandhay Vishyasaktam muktayai nirvishayam smritam II

The mind is the primary cause of human bondage as also of liberation. The mind attached to sense objects leads to bondage and sufferings while the detached mind brings liberation and happiness. Therefore, the approach in this workshop is to nurture the very spirit of two pillars of Yoga Sadhana viz. Abhyasa and Vairagya through Dharanas from Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, so that the mind becomes a worthy instrument to achieve peace and harmony, here and now.

In the ultimate analysis, Dharana techniques from Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and Upanishads enable one to become one’s own master and driver rather than being driven by mind, thereby transforming the bondage and sufferings into liberation and eternal happiness and thus paving way for a perennial peace and harmony in one’s life and living.

Peace and Harmony through select Dharana techniques from Vijnana Bhairava Tantra

Many a Dharana technique requires us to feel non-muscular impulses within the body, through Mantras, Bija Mantras, Bandhas & Mudras, as well as, through the experiential breathing awareness techniques. Practical meditative processes included in the workshop are helpful:

  • To counter weakness after a prolonged illness

Six Shoonyakas (Six voids), mentioned in Vijnana Bhairava will be communicated, apart from select Dharanas from this treatise (Chakra Anusandhana, Nada Sanchalan, Pawan Sanchalan and Chakra Bhedan) in a most easy manner, so as to facilitate Dhyana on classical lines. Emphasis will be laid on practical applications of these techniques in our life & living.

Higher states of consciousness will be reached through Samyama practices

Shabda Sanchalan, Amrit Pan and other subtler Kriya Yoga techniques and a few dharana processes, from Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and other above mentioned sources will be shared, leading us to continual intuitive abilities, useful for solving our existential problems. Subtler subjective impulses, independent of the breathing, as well as, independent of exteroception, interoception and vestibular domains, culminating into a deep sense of inward and ecstatic experience of fulfillment, will be experienced by the participants during this final phase of the workshop. Finally, how to go beyond techniques of meditation and experience ‘Dhyana-without-technique’ will also be communicated.
